On Saturday, February 7, 2009, the second edition of the Symposium of Romanian Spirituality organized by the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese in the
- Dr. Pamela Bright (Professor of Historical Theology, Concordia), "Paradox and participation: a Christmas sermon of Gregory of Nazianzus"
- Dr. Lucian Turcescu (Associate Professor of Historical Theology, Concordia), "Blessed Are the Peacemakers, for They Will Be Called Sons of God: Images of Salvation in St. Gregory of Nyssa"

- Dr. Bogdan Bucur (Assistant Professor of Early Christianity,
Archbishop Nicolae and Bishop Ioan Casian addressed words of welcome to the attendance. An interesting discussion followed the presentations. According to the decision of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, the Symposium considered the generic theme of the Year 2009 as dedicated to St Basil the Great, Archbishop of Caesarea Cappadocia († 379) and of the other Cappadocian Saints.
