Call to prayer and charity for flood victims in Romania
Reverend Fathers,
Dear faithful,
On these days when many of our brothers on the North-Eastern part of Romania are facing the merciless waters overflow, I urge you to raise prayers during the Divine Services to halt rain:
Again we pray for the Lord our God to hear our voice in prayer and have mercy us and send to the earth good weather and comfort us, His servants who grieve. Let us say all with tears: Hear us and have mercy on us (and the other special requests from the Liturgy book).
We address you a call to prayer and charity to our brothers in Moldova who are facing the water overflow. They are Christians who lost their lives, many families were left homeless and without the life necessities. We all need help and we should direct our thought and deed towards them. The entire country was mobilized to help those in distress. We can also help them with the prayer and our gift.
We ask the priests to organize a collection in every parish in the coming weeks and send the amount collected to the Archdiocesan Center in Chicago, for the U.S. parishes, or St. George Cathedral in Windsor, ON for the parishes in Canada. The total amount collected by the end of August will be sent to Romania to help the flood victims.
I pray God to reward and grant you His heavenly peace.
